ROBOCOP has been in and out of the news over the last couple years for the upcoming reboot of the film franchise. And now comes news that BOOM! Studios is reviving the ROBOCOP comics. Frank Miller and Stephen Grant of previous ROBOCOP comics series are collaborating on a new story out this Summer. According to BOOM! Studios’ website, “The people of Detroit have been evicted from their homes. ED-209′s and OCP officers run the streets. With OCP’s vision for Delta City well underway, Robocop may be his city’s last hope.”

EA will develop and publish the new titles, with plans for all interactive platforms and game genres. Disney retains rights to develop gaming titles for its own mobile, social, tablet and online game categories.

EA Labels president Frank Gibeau says: “Three of our top studios will fulfill that dream, crafting epic adventures for Star Wars fans. DICE and Visceral will produce new games, joining the BioWare team which continues to develop for the Star Wars franchise. The new experiences we create may borrow from films, but the games will be entirely original with all new stories and gameplay.”

Numerous “Star Wars” video games have been produced over the past few decades including the “Rebel Assault” and “X-Wing” titles in the 1990s, “Knights of the Old Republic” and “Battlefront” in the early-mid 2000s, and the “Force Unleashed” and LEGO related “Star Wars” games for the most recent console generation.

Electronic Arts is responsible for some of the biggest franchises in gaming including Army of Two, Battlefield, Burnout, Crysis, Dead Space, Dragon Age, FIFA, Mass Effect, Medal of Honor, Mirrors Edge, Need for Speed, Rock Band, The Sims, Skate, SSX and Wing Commander. Their BioWare label developed the mega-budget MMORPG “Star Wars: The Old Republic”.

However, they also achieved infamy as The Consumerist magazine awarded EA the title of “Worst Company in America” in 2012 according to a poll tabulating more than 250,000 votes. They won the award again last month for such complaints as day-one DLC, micro transactions, poor customer support, dismissiveness of criticisms, and their habit of acquiring and squashing smaller developers.

The company also announced today the arrival of “The Sims 4″ in 2014.

“Aint Them Bodies Saints” writer/director David Lowery has been hired to pen and helm the long-gestating adaptation of Brian Michael Bendis and Marc Andreykos graphic novel “Torso”.

“Torso” tells the true but relatively unknown story of Treasury Department agent Eliot Ness time after his Al Capone days, when he moved to Cleveland to be the citys public safety officer.

Torsos began appearing in the river, and Ness began receiving notes taunting him to catch the killer. Ness, who had no experience in police work, put together a team of ex-officers to apprehend the serial murderer.

The project nearly got going a few years ago with David Fincher attached to direct and the likes of Matt Damon, Rachel McAdams and Casey Affleck starring.

Lowery will start from scratch, rather than using the previous script drafts by Ehren Kruger.

This marks the third project in the past month that Lowery has become attached to, following the “Petes Dragon” remake and the Robert Redford-led crime drama “The Old Man and the Gun”.

When asked how the idea for the book came to him, Sean says, “I had as much fun creating & drawing the comic, as I did actually experiencing the events I wrote about. Of course, I had to add my “what if…” twist to the real story, but it always makes it a bit more fun. We had many a fun time back in the day.. hope you enjoy my tales. And here’s to John, for putting up with all the comic torture I put him through. Thank you again, old friend. Sit back, relax & enjoy the ride.”Dortch brings humor and fantasy to the pages of MY NAME IS JOHN’s first four episodes published by Forbidden Panel. There’s love, life lessons, death, cursing and nudity and it is definitely a book for mature readers. Volume 1 of MY NAME IS JOHN is 36 pages of entertaining reading. Now available for digital download for only $1.00 in the Forbidden Panel Store.

As the sun was setting on another southern Californian, Friday night at Disneyland there was a rare site at the park, a line for entry into the Innoventions ride. Disney welcomed Annual Passholders to a pre-opening to a new display on the ride, Marvel’s Iron Man armory. As fans of the films will know, Tony Stark’s mansion in Malibu is home to all of Iron Man’s armors that will be featured in the upcoming IRON MAN 3. This is the first outing for Marvel by the House of Mouse to incorporate their comic book properties into the classic amusement park

Passholders were granted exclusive access to Innoventions from 6pm to 1am today for the revealing of a corner of the ride where the armory will be open to the public starting April 13, 2013. Attendees to get to see the Mark I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII from the first two Iron Man movies and the Avengers, as well as, the Mark LXII from the IRON MAN 3. There are also pieces of the different armors of the film trilogy and a opportunity to try out the new IRON MAN 3 video game. The video game takes a headshot of the player (via the XBox Kinect) and puts it in the Iron Man armor and then using motion, the player becomes the superhero for missions.

While this is Marvel’s first appearance as part of an attraction at the Disneyland resort, it is not the blockbuster ride many were hoping for. Lines will definitely increase for the next month, leading up to the film’s premiere but afterwards will return to normal park attendance levels. It is great to see Disney showing their comic books properties but if fans have seen a Marvel booth at a comic convention in the last two years, they have already seen this armory display; do not get into the Innoventions line if it looks longer than 30 minutes.
