Why Be Patient When We Can Be Mad?
Waiting in line for a premier, standing outside a store waiting for it to open to get that game system, or even sitting intently at your computer waiting for con registration to open up. It seems that anything fun is preluded by a whole bunch of sitting around waiting. And if it involves one of my personal favorite places, Disneyland, then it’s a whole bunch of waiting with your butt going numb on cold cement.
I’m talking about getting that perfecta spot for their nightly extravaganza Fantasmic, or in the case of California Adventure- World of Color. Ah, all those wonderful memories made while sitting on one spot of cold concrete, fiercely defending our designated piece of ground from invasion for all the luckier members of the group using up the hours until the show starts by getting those last few rides in or doing a bit of shopping. Good times, good times.
But times they are a changin’. Apparently someone dropped a whisper into the ear of the planners at Disneyland HQ and they decided to try a different approach.
Some of you may have been to ElecTRONica at California Adventure. This electrifying stage show , night club, and cool themed hangout all rolled into one was an answer to the question of what to do with all these people loitering like vagrants on the most defensible squares of concrete waiting for World of Color to start. Who wouldn’t rather be shaking their booty with a good looking program than freezing it sitting down? Brilliant- except it’s closed. Back to giving that family of four with the cute little boy the stink eye when they edge too close to the spread out jacket on the ground.
Wait! Do not despair. Disney wouldn’t cast us back into the black days of feudal concrete kingdoms. The Houses of Mouse has decreed that none shall have to forsake their nightly booty shake after a hard day of ride hopping and character stalking. As the portal closes on ElecTRONica they have a plan brewing. Literally. Set to take the psychedelic stage on June 15th 2012 is the Mad T Party and our very own Janelle Perret Vendeville got some pics of the new construction!
Themed after the hugely successful Tim Burton adaptation of the classic Lewis Carroll tale Guests will slip down the rabbit hole and have a chance to dance their hearts, or spades, or diamonds off with the Mad T Party band and the White Rabbit DJ and card dancers.
Or stop off for refreshment at the House of cards lounge.
So let us celebrate our freedom from the long lonely wait in the dark! FutterWacken anyone?
