Will Kick Ass kick your ass? I think it just might…

Okay so I’m just gonna say a little somethin’ about this movie cuz I gotta.  The story, based on the book written by Mark Millar and illustrated by John Romita, Jr. was an ultra-violent comic series that I admit, I have never read.

I WILL be reading it now!
I had no idea what to expect and was totally blown away.  The action sequences were awesome, surprising and exciting.  The film as a whole was a bit morally disturbing, unique and super funny.
As the rating suggests; NOT for kids.  At first that disappointed me a bit just because I felt that it could have been a really cool, inspiring sort of thing for the younger crowd but… yeah, not a good idea. LOL…
Aaron Johnson as “Kick Ass” himself otherwise known as Dave Lizewski, was awesome.  His character infused with just the right levels of naivety and awkwardness that you have to love him.  There really is just no choice, he’s absolutely adorable.  He’s a cute little pretty boy so I wasn’t sure how that’d go over, turning a kid that could easily be the new heart throb in some ABC Family show into the ultimate girl-repelling geek.  The last time I had seen him in anything was as Charlie Chaplain in Shanghai Knights.  Don’t get me wrong, he’s been in a lot since then!  That’s just the last thing I think I saw him in.  Well, the kid grew up and did an awesome job.

The rest of the film… well, I don’t want to give it away if you don’t know the story.  I was thrilled to be surprised so I won’t say too much except Hit Girl and Big Daddy were both disturbing and endearing and I absolutely LOVED them both.  Big Daddy, played by Nick Cage was probably more awesome in this movie than he’s been in any comic related film so far.  I WISH he’d been this cool in those other movies… the ones that were so bad we dare not speak their names… and Chloe Moretz as Hit Girl well, you’ll just have to see it to believe it.  She’s a 13 year old powerhouse and I adored every minute of her on that screen.
Oh, and the music- brilliant!
Anyway, I just wanted to say it was worth staying up till 3am to see it at midnight.  Just remember, it’s not for kids, it’s going to test your moral fiber and it will, if you allow it… be a great ride.
What was really cool for us, was that Hot Topic actually donated merchandise to Forbidden Panel for the evening’s festivities!  They kicked down over 100 bucks in product for us.  They are the exclusive retailer for all Kick Ass merchandise so we wanted to support them as much as they were supporting the film.  They totally came through and it was really awesome.  We absolutely appreciate the support and will definitely be heading into the local HT for all our Kick Ass gear.
I know there was a lot more going on in the movie than what I’ve touched on here, but again, I don’t want to blow it all if you’ve never seen it and I’m sure the boys will be talking more about this in the panel cast so I’m gonna just leave it at that and say I loved it.  I’d love to know what anyone else thought…?
