“Hellraiser” Stalls & New Cenobite Designs

From Dark Horizons

Earlier this week came word that the planned reboot of the “Hellraiser” franchise at Dimension Films looks to have died on the vine.

“Drive Angry” duo Todd Farmer and Patrick Lussier were attached to the remake but they toldBloody Disgusting that while they presented numerous different takes on the property to the studio, they “never saw eye to eye creatively” and so they’re no longer involved.

When they signed on the studio wanted an “epic and dark rated R” feature but now it looks like the studio was pushing for more of a PG-13 which seems near impossible for such a property.

Meanwhile today, STYD has posted some now likely discarded Cenobite conceptual designs from the project including a new and much more HR Giger-style take on Pinhead.

In the meantime the direct-to-DVD sequel “Hellraiser: Revelations”, an ultra low budget effort produced just so the studio could hold on to the rights, hits disc this Fall.
