Josh Mond To Direct Fox’s Graphic Novel Adaptation ‘Jake Ellis’

jakellisJosh Mond, who wrote and directed the 2015 Sundance Film Festival pic James White, has been tapped to direct Jake Ellis, 20th Century Fox’s movie adaptation of Nathan Edmonson’s Image Comics graphic novel Who Is Jake Ellis? Chernin Entertainment’s Jenno Topping and David Ready are producing.

This pic will center on Silas, who has his life turned upside down when the voice in his head, Jake Ellis, turns out to be a secret human-experimentation operation. Silas must learn to listen to the voice to save himself, but also to figure out how he became involved in this mission and how to get the voice out.

At one point David Yates was attached to the project, with a script by Hannah scribe Seth Lochhead. We’re hearing the project is out to writers now.

Mond is also a partner with Sean Durkin and Antonio Campos in Borderline Films, and they traded off directing and producing Borderline pics Martha Marcy May Marlene (Durkin directed) and Afterschool (Campos directed) along with James White. All three were nominated for Spirit Awards for best first film.
