“The Boys” Comic To Be An Amazon Series

The other day came word that Amazon was set to collaborate with “Preacher” executive producers Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg on a new TV series based on a comic.

A script order has been given with the project being eyed for a possible straight-to-series pickup, but at the time it wasn’t certain which property it was.

Variety has now confirmed it’s is indeed the one that Rogen and Goldberg have been linked to for a while now and one that was previously setup at Cinemax – “The Boys”.

The story is set in a time where most of the world’s superheroes are corrupted by their celebrity status and engage in reckless behavior that compromises the safety of the world.

The action follows a CIA squad, known informally as ‘the boys,’ whose job is to keep watch on the proliferation of superheroes and, if necessary, eliminate some of them. The series ran for 72 issues from 2008-2012.

The hour-long drama adaptation is being written by “Supernatural” creator Eric Kripke and is based on the comic title by “Preacher” creator Garth Ennis. Rogen and Goldberg are set to direct the pilot for the show which will be produced by Neal Mortiz and Sony Pictures TV.
