The in-development TV adaptation of Jason Aaron<\/a> &\u00a0R.M. Gu\u00e9ra<\/a>‘s DC Comics\/Vertigo series “Scalped” has gotten a pilot order from WGN America’s, putting it closer to a potential spot on the cable network’s lineup as reported today by THR<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“Scalped” was first reported to be in development<\/a> at WGN America in April 2014, and has a pilot script written by Doug Jung, whose credits include the upcoming “Star Trek Beyond. The pilot will be executive produced by DC Entertainment Chief Creative OfficerGeoff Johns<\/a>. Amid current scrutiny of Hollywood whitewashing, THR notes that the pilot is “eyeing an all\u00a0Native American<\/span> cast.”\u00a0\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Here’s the description of the “Scalped” TV adaptation: “A modern-day crime story set in the world of a Native American Indian<\/span> reservation<\/span>. It explores power, loyalty and spirituality in a community led by the ambitious chief Lincoln Red Crow, as he reckons with Dashiell Bad Horse<\/span> who has returned home after years away from the reservation.”<\/p>\n

One of the most acclaimed comic book<\/span> series of its time, “Scalped” ran for 60 issues from 2007 to 2012, as part of DC’s mature readers imprint, Vertigo. A fellow Vertigo-based TV series, “iZombie,” is in its second season on The CW, with AMC’s “Preacher” set to debut later this spring. WGN America also ordered a pilot based on “Roadside Picnic,” the 1971 sci-fi novel by Arkady and Boris Strugatsky.<\/p>\n
