Happy Halloween season, everyone! \u00a0It’s October 1st and officially Halloween time, so here- have a countdown list! \u00a0It’s a fun, little exploration inside the mind of a\u00a0parent with anxiety who also love horror films!\"trickrtreat\"<\/p>\n

Each day we will cover an aspect of my personal brand of crazy as it relates to the films I love and how they affect me as a mom by listing the most anxiety-inducing films I, personally, have ever seen.<\/p>\n

Disclaimer: Trigger warnings are a given when you talk about horror, but I’m going to say it anyway.\u00a0 Many subjects covered by horror films are disturbing to parents\u00a0in ways we can\u2019t possibly understand and each is unique to the parent and his\/her\u00a0experiences. Tread carefully and know your limits. \u00a0If this begins to be too much, there’s no shame in closing the window. \u00a0Also, this post contains some spoilers throughout.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

For October first in 31st place, I give you:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

31.\u00a0The Shining<\/strong><\/span><\/h1>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

I have always loved this movie. \u00a0It\u2019s seriously disturbing in all the right ways with ghosts, hallucinations and insanity, mind games and isolation, enough bizarre, unsettling yet completely random imagery to rival any David Lynch picture and STILL has room for both good magic\u00a0<\/span>and<\/em> demons.\u00a0 I used to LOVE watching this movie.\u00a0 Now? Not really so much. \u00a0If my kid starts making up games with invisible people using funny voices and assigning personalities to body parts,\u00a0there won\u2019t be enough sage in the Western Hemisphere for the amount of cleansing I will be doing. \u00a0Oh wait, he already does that\u2026 crap.<\/span><\/p>\n

Also; bodies of dead children are no longer okay. \u00a0Ghosts I can deal with, creepy and bizarre randomness I can handle even a ghost in a shower and the elevator with pig\u2019s\u00a0blood isn\u2019t that bad, but the\u00a0dead and bloody bodies of those girls just twist my heart in ways only someone chanting \u201cKali Mah\u201d can appreciate. \u00a0<\/span>\"kalima\"<\/a><\/p>\n
