BBC America has announced that Kevin Smith has signed on to write, direct, and executive produce a TV series based on the Image Comics title \u201cSam and Twitch\u201d.<\/p>\n

The characters were first introduced in the Spawn comics, a pair of homicide detectives were so popular they got their own title in 1999 which explores how they solve occult-related crimes in a dark and violent version of New York City.<\/p>\n

BBC America president Sarah Barnett says Smith is \u201cbeyond himself excited\u201d about the series which will have both a crime-of-the-week format, and season-long storylines.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s not clear if \u201cSpawn\u201d creator Todd McFarlane is involved in the series or if there\u2019s any involvement of other characters from the \u201cSpawn\u201d universe. No production timetable has yet been scheduled either.<\/p>\n

Both characters were previously brought to the screen on HBO\u2019s \u201cSpawn\u201d animated series which is currently available on HBO Now.Source: Deadline<\/p>\n
