\"\"<\/a>\u201cSinister\u201d and \u201cDoctor Strange\u201d director Scott Derrickson has been hired to helm at least the pilot and potentially several episodes of the TV series adaptation of Joe Hill\u2019s comic \u201cLocke and Key\u201d.<\/p>\n

The series, which ran from 2008-2013, follows three siblings who return to their family estate in Massachusetts after the gruesome death of their father.<\/p>\n

Once there, they discover magical keys that grant special powers and open strange doors that change those who dare to walk through them. Unfortunately, they\u2019re not the only ones interested in these mysterious artifacts, as a supernatural force is also after them and trying to force them to open the most terrible door of them all.<\/p>\n

FOX attempted a series adaptation in 2010 but the network opted not to pick it up. Mark Romanek (\u201cNever Let Me Go\u201d) helmed the pilot while Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman (\u201cFringe,\u201d \u201cStar Trek\u201d) produced and the likes of Miranda Otto, Jesse McCartney, Nick Stahl, Sarah Bolger and Mark Pellegrino starred.<\/p>\n

Universal then tried to adapt it as a feature trilogy in 2012, but nothing much has progressed since then. Then last year came word that Hill will write and executive produce a new TV series version for a cable or streaming service with Hulu coming aboard and officially ordered a pilot for the series.<\/p>\n

\u201cLost\u201d and \u201cBates Motel\u201d producer Carlton Cuse is also onboard as showrunner.<\/p>\n
