The CW<\/a>\u00a0is developing a drama series based on\u00a0DC Comics<\/a>\u00a0characters Traci Thirteen and her father Dr. Terrance Thirteen with\u00a0Elizabeth Banks<\/a>\u00a0attached as an executive producer,\u00a0Variety\u00a0<\/em>has learned exclusively.<\/p>\n

Titled \u201cProject 13,\u201d the one-hour drama would center on Traci,\u00a0a twenty-something forensic scientist and believer in the paranormal who discovers her own hidden extra-sensory abilities when she joins her estranged, skeptic father to investigate mysterious cases of the paranormal and unexplained phenomena. Traci and Dr. Thirteen have appeared in multiple comics within the DC Universe, including \u201cFlashpoint\u201d and \u201cBatman.\u201d<\/p>\n

Daegan Fryklind will serve as the writer and executive producer on the project. Banks will produce along with Max Handelman through their Brownstone Productions company. Brownstone will produce in association with Warner Bros. Television.<\/p>\n

Should the project move forward, it would join a long line of comic adaptions at CW. The network currently airs \u201cThe Flash,\u201d \u201cSupergirl,\u201d \u201cArrow,\u201d and \u201cLegends of Tomorrow,\u201d all of which are based on\u00a0DC Comics<\/a>\u00a0characters. The network also airs \u201cRiverdale,\u201d based on the Archie Comics characters, and recently announced they are developing a drama series based on\u00a0\u201cChilling Adventures of Sabrina.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n

Frykling previously created the series \u201cBitten,\u201d and also wrote for and produced series like \u201cMotive\u201d and \u201cBeing Erica.\u201d She also worked as a writer for \u201cFalcon Beach\u201d and \u201cSpiral\u201d among other shows.<\/p>\n

For Banks and Handelman, this marks the latest in a string of broadcast projects they have in development this season. Previously, the pair set up a\u00a0one-hour drama starring Laverne Cox<\/a>\u00a0called \u201cSpirited\u201d at ABC and\u00a0a step-sibling comedy at Fox<\/a>\u00a0from \u201cWet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp\u201d writer Lauren Caltagirone.<\/p>\n
