According to\u00a0Deadline<\/a>, the show, developed by\u00a0Supernatural<\/em>\u00a0creator Eric Kripke, is expected to debut in early 2019.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn a landscape saturated with superhero shows,\u00a0The Boys<\/em>\u00a0is the next evolution in this popular genre,\u201d Amazon\u2019s Sharon Tal Yguado said in a statement. \u201cWith Eric, Evan, Seth and Original Film all behind this series, we are excited to adapt this popular comic, from the visionary minds of Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, for television.\u201d<\/p>\n

The project was originally developed for Cinemax, but the pay cable channel ultimately chose to pass on the show. Amazing began courting the series by ordering a script from writer Eric Kripke. Rogen and Goldberg will direct the pilot. The duo, who are also behind AMC\u2019s\u00a0Preacher<\/em>, will also serve as executive producers on the project.<\/p>\n

Sony Pictures TV Studios will co-produce the series with both Amazon and Neal H. Moritz\u2019s Original Films.<\/p>\n

Dynamite Entertainment\u2019s\u00a0The Boys<\/em>, which ran for 72 issues from 2008 to 2012, depicted a world wherein superheroes had become amoral celebrities that often engaged in destructive and selfish behavior. The Boys are a CIA squad that keeps those heroes in check, taking them out permanently, if need be.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
