The search is on for yet another actor to play the role of John Constantine for a new series in early development at HBO Max. Guy Bolton is currently attached to write the show.<\/p>\n

The show will reportedly follow a younger version of the DC Comics character and focus more on the comics\u2019 horror elements rather than the religious ones.<\/div>\n

Said series will also tie into the \u201cJustice League Dark\u201d series currently in the works at the streamer, a series that has J.J. Abrams executive producing through his Bad Robot label.<\/p>\n

That show will boast characters like Swamp Thing, Madame Xanadu, Deadman, and Doctor Mist. It\u2019s speculated HBO Max may follow the Netflix Marvel strategy and do shows focusing on individual characters first before the team-up show.<\/p>\n

Keanu Reeves played the character in the 2005 film \u201cConstantine,\u201d but the most well-known portrayal to date has been Matt Ryan who has taken on the role across three different series \u2013 NBC\u2019s \u201cConstantine\u201d along with The CW\u2019s \u201cArrow\u201d and \u201cLegends of Tomorrow\u201d.<\/p>\n

More recently, \u201cRocketman\u201d and \u201cKingsman\u201d star Taron Egerton voiced the role in an Audible adaptation of Neil Gaiman\u2019s \u201cThe Sandman,\u201d while a Netflix live-action series based on that property is expected to include the character \u2013 though no-one has been announced for that version as yet.<\/p>\n
