James Tynion IV\u2019s comic book\u00a0The\u00a0Department of Truth<\/em>\u00a0is heading to screens.<\/p>\n

Sister, the\u00a0production banner<\/a>\u00a0co-founded by Elisabeth Murdoch, Stacey Snider and Jane Featherstone, has picked up both the film and television rights to the title, drawn by Martin Simmonds and published by Image Comics.<\/p>\n

Tynion, who currently writes <\/span>Batman<\/em>\u00a0for DC and is behind Boom! bestseller\u00a0<\/span>Something Is Killing the Children<\/em>, will co-write the script for what at this stage is intended to be developed as a series. A search for a co-writer is underway.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

A comic that couldn\u2019t be more timely,\u00a0Truth<\/em>\u00a0deals with the idea of how conspiracy theories that take hold can shape the fabric of reality. The story focuses on a former FBI agent who joins a mysterious government organization that deals with conspiracies ranging from faked moon landings or the idea that the Earth is flat to politicized beliefs involving paid crisis actors and faked school shootings. The book has earned rave reviews and comparisons to the books released by DC\u2019s acclaimed Vertigo imprint in the 1990s.<\/p>\n

Sister is the creator-focused venture that has been involved with shows such as Sky\/HBO\u2019s\u00a0Chernobyl\u00a0<\/em>and Sky\/AMC\u2019s\u00a0Gangs of London<\/em>\u00a0and has invested in Molly Stern\u2019s publishing initiative Zando, LeBron James and Maverick Carter\u2019s Springhill Entertainment, podcast studio Campside Media and comic and digital publisher AWA Studios. The company has also picked up rights to books such as James McBride\u2019s\u00a0Deacon King Kong<\/em>\u00a0and Lydia Millet\u2019s\u00a0A Children\u2019s Bible: A Novel.<\/em><\/p>\n

Tynion has been writing various Batman books for DC since the early 2010s. He rose not only through the DC ranks but also made a name for himself in the creator-owned space with titles such as\u00a0The Woods\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0Something Is Killing the Children<\/em>, the latter one of the best-selling books that indie publisher Boom! has put out. He recently took over writing duties on\u00a0Batman<\/em>, which is DC\u2019s top title.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
