Action-adventure game\u00a0Ghost of Tsushima<\/em>\u00a0is getting the big-screen treatment.<\/p>\n

Sony Pictures and PlayStation Production are developing a film adaptation, with\u00a0John Wick’s’<\/em>\u00a0Chad Stahelski to direct.\u00a0<\/em>Ghost of Tsushima<\/em>\u00a0is set in feudal Japan during the first Mongol invasion in 1274 and follows protagonist Jin Sakai, one of the last remaining samurai warriors, who becomes a ghost fighter in order to ward off the brutal enemies.<\/p>\n

The action adventure game, from developer Sucker Punch \u2014 known for the<\/span>\u00a0Infamous<\/em>\u00a0franchise \u2014<\/span>\u00a0debuted on<\/a>\u00a0PlayStation 4 platform in 2020.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Stahelski, Alex Young and Jason Spitz are producing the film adaptation through their company 87ElevenEntertainment. Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan will produce on behalf of PlayStation Productions. Sucker Punch Productions will serve as executive producers.<\/p>\n

Peter Kang is overseeing the project on behalf of Sony Pictures.\u00a0Ghost of Tsushima<\/em>\u00a0is the second film to come out of the partnership between Sony Pictures and PlayStation Productions, with\u00a0Uncharted\u00a0<\/em>now in post-production and set to be released on Feb. 11, 2022.<\/p>\n

Sony Pictures Television and PlayStation Productions is also developing the TV series\u00a0The Last of Us\u00a0<\/em>for HBO, with Craig Mazin attached to write and executive produce, as well as action comedy\u00a0Twisted Metal<\/em>, based on an original take by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick.<\/p>\n

“We\u2019re\u00a0excited to be partnering with Chad and 87Eleven Entertainment, to bring their vision of Jin\u2019s story to the big screen.\u00a0We love working with creative partners like Chad, who have a passion for our games, ensuring we can create rich adaptations that will excite our fans and new audiences,” Asad Qizilbash, head of PlayStation Productions, said in a statement.<\/p>\n

Stahelski is set to shoot\u00a0John Wick 4,\u00a0<\/em>after directing the first three films. The films have surpassed $600 million worldwide in box office for Lionsgate.<\/p>\n

Stahelski is also in development on a reboot of the cult classic\u00a0Highlander,\u00a0<\/em>as well as the\u00a0John Wick<\/em>\u00a0spin-off\u00a0Ballerina<\/em>\u00a0with Len Wiseman attached to direct. He is also developing\u00a0Classified<\/em>\u00a0at New Line.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/article>\n
