Things are moving fast on Oscar nominated filmmaker Luca Guadagnino\u2019s planned film adaptation of the \u201cSgt. Rock\u201d comics for James Gunn and Peter Safran\u2019s DC Studios.<\/p>\n

Word came in September last year that Guadagnino was reportedly in talks to direct the project, a WW2 period piece film written by Guadagnino\u2019s new go-to screenwriter Justin Kuritzkes after their collaborations on \u201cChallengers\u201d and \u201cQueer\u201d.<\/p>\n

By November came word that Daniel Craig would re-team with Guadagnino on the project. Now,\u00a0The Hot Mic\u2019s Jeff Sneider<\/a> has indicated that production on the film is slated to begin this Fall with the movie potentially out as early as mid-2026.<\/p>\n

The comics follow Sgt. Franklin Rock, an infantry non-commissioned officer who managed to participate in every major action in the European part of World War II.<\/p>\n

He\u2019s an incredibly skilled fighter and sniper and has both endurance and a borderline sixth sense when it comes to danger. Otherwise, he\u2019s a regular human.<\/p>\n

Much like with the Mike Flanagan-penned \u201cClayface\u201d film which is aiming to shoot early this year, or James Mangold\u2019s \u201cSwamp Thing,\u201d this is likely to be very much its own thing and so could well be an R-rated war movie.<\/p>\n
