A TV series remake of Kathryn Bigelow\u2019s 1987 vampire neo-Western cult classic \u201cNear Dark\u201d is reportedly in the works at A24.<\/p>\n

The InSneider<\/a>\u00a0broke the news and reports that Bigelow herself is involved in some capacity in the project, but it\u2019s not clear what and how deep that involvement goes at present.<\/p>\n

The bloody road movie stars Adrian Pasdar as a young man in a small Oklahoma town who meets a mysterious female drifter (Jenny Wright) who bites him and runs off. He realizes he\u2019s been turned into a vampire and becomes involved with her family of nomadic vampires.<\/p>\n

Co-starring the \u201cAliens\u201d trio of Bill Paxton, Lance Henriksen and Jenette Goldstein, the film received mostly positive reviews at the time with Paxton\u2019s performance in particular as the unhinged member of the group often singled out.<\/p>\n

Bigelow subsequently went on to direct \u201cBlue Steel,\u201d \u201cPoint Break\u201d and \u201cStrange Days\u201d shortly after this. She currently has an untitled White House thriller in the works which is targeting a Fall release this year.<\/p>\n
