Stephen King’s single novel epic “The Stand” is finally getting adapted for the big screen via Warner Bros. and CBS Films reports\u00a0Heat Vision<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The studios and producers will sit down with writers and directors in the coming weeks to find the right take on the material. One thing to be determined is whether to attempt the adaptation in one or multiple movies.<\/p>\n

The novel, first published in 1978 and revised in 1990, is a story of good vs. evil after a virus wipes out most of the American population. The survivors end up fighting the Antichrist-like Randall Flagg.<\/p>\n

ABC produced a toned-down six-hour mini-series adaptation in 1994, while Marvel Comics has recently produced an acclaimed graphic novel adaptation.<\/p>\n

CBS has held the rights for years but recently sought a parter to co-develop and co-produce a feature with Warners winning a bidding war for the rights. King will be involved in some capacity while Mosaic and Roy Lee are producing.<\/p>\n
