David Hayter (“X2,” “Watchmen”) has been hired to pen the screenplay for the upcoming adaptation of The Luna Brothers comic “The Sword” for Lakeshore Entertainment and Hopscotch Features.<\/p>\n

The four volume comic follows a young paraplegic who leads an ordinary existence until her family is brutally murdered by a mysterious trio with supernatural abilities.<\/p>\n

Left for dead, Dara discovers an ancient sword belonging to her father. The sword restores her ability to walk and grants her a constantly evolving array of spectacular physical powers.<\/p>\n

She soon embarks on a journey to hunt down and destroy her family\u2019s assassins.<\/p>\n

The property is being seen as a potential franchise launcher with the film slated to begin production in early 2014. Tom Rosenberg, Gary Lucchesi, Skip Williamson, and Andrew Mason will produce.<\/p>\n
