A month before the first issue is published and Sony Pictures has already acquired the film rights to Jeff Lemire and Dustin Nguyen\u2019s upcoming Image comic Descender.\u00a0Lemire is the creator of the acclaimed graphic novels Sweet Tooth and\u00a0Essex County\u00a0as well as having written for Marvel, DC, Dark Horse and Valiant.\u00a0Nguyen has\u00a0worked on American Vampire, Batman Eternal, Batman: Streets of Gotham, Detective Comics, and Batman: Li\u2019l Gotham, which now has its own line of toys designed by the artist..<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a competitive situation for Descender, and we are thrilled that it ended with Sony Pictures acquiring the series,\u201d said Lemire and Nguyen. \u201cWe know that their film translation will do justice to the original comics, and we are thrilled with their belief in the franchise potential.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
