Saturday of New York Comic Con (NYCC) 2015 is officially in the books, and due to travel necessities, it will be my last day for this year. The first and most vehement thing I have to say about the day is, holy crap. I thought the crowds were massive yesterday, but they were even larger today. I haven’t seen crowds like that anywhere outside of San Diego Comic Con (SDCC). It was truly impressive. For the first time this weekend, there were panels outside of the main hall that had their lines capped hours before the panel actually took place. The halls were packed, people were costumed to the nines, and there was a generally frenetic energy filling the air. I’ve got pictures for you and a brief bit of coverage regarding the panels that I attended, but first let me say, any of you that enjoy the convention experience and have had a blast at SDCC or WonderCon, you really should give NYCC a shot at least once.<\/p>\n

As far as panels go, I was able to make it into a couple today. The first was a DC comics panel. It was a bit of fun to see the writers and artists from so many different series (Starfire, Harley Quinn, Cyborg, Superman Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, the Flash), but there wasn’t much to learn during the panel. They were rather mum on spoilers for upcoming issues and arcs, but they were glad to talk about the current events within the various series that they were working on. For those already reading any given series, it was not a dearth of new information, but it did open up the possibility of certain ideas as to what might be coming down the road.<\/p>\n

The Outcast panel was a bit more enlightening. For those of you who don’t know, Outcast is another comic book series by Robert Kirkman. Granted, things in the panel got out of hand rather quickly, but it certainly was a fun time. What we were treated to was a short excerpt from the first episode which showed off just how extreme things are likely to get, it’s not every day you see a kid smash his head into a wall to kill a cockroach…..and then eat it. We also got to see the first full trailer<\/a> for the show. It looks like things are going to be violent, creepy, spooky, and chilling on a level that we have not seen in television for a while. I, for one, am glad that the series was picked up by Cinemax. The boundaries for acceptability are much broader and it should allow for a more truthful representation of the stories that Kirkman has told in the comics. There is still no concrete release date yet, but it sounds like we should be expecting a premier early in 2016.<\/p>\n
