Marvel Comics has released a new image teasing the third and final act of “AvX” set to debut August 1 with “Avengers Vs. X-Men” #9 by Jason Aaron with art by Adam Kubert. The teaser proclaims, “There Can Be Only One” with hands of heroes like Wolverine, Iron Man and more reaching out to the symbol of the Phoenix Force.<\/p>\n

“‘AvX’ was never about who would win, but about how they could win, why they would win, and what they would win,” Marvel editor-in-chief Axel Alonso told CBR in 2011. “It’s an epic story that will move fast: Each act takes place in two months and ends with a game-changing moment that will knock readers on their butts. And like out most successful events, there will be big moments — big revelations: In ‘Civil War,’ there was Spider-Man unmasking. This story’s got even bigger moments. [Laughs] It’ll be interesting to see how people respond.”<\/p>\n

The game-changing moment of Act Two was teased in early May when Marvel declared “No More Avengers,” the line uttered by Cyclops in “Avengers Vs. X-Men” #6. While there’s no telling what “AvX” has in store for fans with this latest teaser, Marvel recently teased post-“AvX” developments with an intriguing image of Jean Grey by Joe Quesada. More details will undoubtedly come to light at Comic-Con International at San Diego next week.<\/p>\n
