With the ending of “The Dark Knight Rises” seeing Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s ‘Robin’ essentially inheriting the Batcave, many have wondered if there was more to the story – specifically if there ever were discussions about getting Gordon-Levitt to suit up.
“Honestly, no, we never talked about that. And honestly I know a lot of people talk about the ending of that movie being a setup for a sequel, but I don’t think that’s necessarily what it is. It’s a great, perfect ending for that trilogy” the actor told MTV News.
Gordon-Levitt previously stated that were he asked to return for another installment, he would “definitely do it”. Of course neither director Christopher Nolan or actor Christian Bale are expected to come back to these characters again.
Speaking of Batman, Movies.com reports that “The Dark Knight Rises” is on pace to sell around ten million fewer tickets than Tim Burton’s 1989 “Batman”.
Burton’s film sold nearly 63 million cinema tickets as compared with ‘Rises’ which has sold 50.6 million thus far. Faring better than Burton’s first Batfilm though was “The Avengers” with 76 million and 2008’s “The Dark Knight” with 74 million.
