Prince Confirmed Dead at 57, TMZ Reports

Guys, I seriously don’t even know what to say right now, so I’m just going to paste in some facts and some photos.

TMZ reported about 45 minutes ago that “SOMEONE” at his Minnesota estate had passed away.  They went on to confirm that Prince had been ill enough to cause his plane to make an emergency landing in Illinois on the 15th of this month, but he later appeared to perform at his concert stating, “I’m okay, sort of” (or something like that).

19 minutes ago, they updated their report to show that Prince did, in fact, pass away.

The call came in early this morning (Thursday, April 21st), that his body had been discovered at his Paisley Estate Compound in Minnesota.

Prince was a revolution unto himself.  He brought an entirely new brand of energy to the music and film industry such that had never been seen and, I daresay, will never be seen again.

He was a crown jewel that can never be replaced.  He taught us what it sounds like when doves cry, he showed us that men can be sexy in purple spandex, he dared us to find the deepest, most precious parts of ourselves and instead of hiding them, pull them out and show them to the world.  He taught us that it was okay to be proud of being strange.  That there was no mold to fit into- the mold was a lie and we could reject it if we were brave.  He passed through walls of every kind of prejudice with the ease of a ghost- shaking the foundations wherever he went and stirring the souls of all who heard him.

Famed musician, writer, performer, choreographer, and producer Prince has died at the age of 57 at his estate in Minnesota. Paramedics were called out to his Paisley Park estate and the local sheriff’s department confirmed that there had been a fatality.

Prince – full name Prince Rogers Nelson – was rushed to hospital six days ago with flu symptoms after his private plane made an emergency landing in Illinois on Friday morning.

He had had been suffering from flu for a number of weeks and was believed to be recovering, but took a turn for the worse in the early hours of Friday. He was treated for three hours before being released.

The singer had performed at The Fox Theatre in Atlanta on last Thursday night and reportedly had seemed fine during the concert. His final public appearance was on Saturday at a dance party in Minnesota.
