“Avengers,” “Captain” Are (Kind Of) At Comic Con

Both Marvel’s “The Avengers” and “Captain America” will have a presence at Comic Con after all, but not in the way you’d expect.

There definitely won’t be a Hall H presentation, but First Showingreports that ‘Avengers’ will make big use of the floor. Much like last year where Odin’s Throne was a big set piece on display, it’s thought a “massive Helicarrier bridge” set could serve that purpose this year.

Marvel will ramp up the viral marketing angle with “S.H.I.E.L.D. personnel” scattered around along with vehicles on hand. Some of the main cast members are also expected to pop in for signings at Marvel’s booth, while a new teaser trailer is expected to be shown at the con.

Meanwhile The Hollywood Reporter says that a special screening of “Captain America” could take place on Thursday morning while Chris Evans is expected to show up for some military-related treat for soldiers stationed in San Diego – now that’s pretty classy.

With filming still at full tilt on ‘Avengers’, things are up in the air for now it would seem in terms of cast availability. More as it develops.

Finally, a new TV spot for “Captain America” looks like it gives away some spoilers of the film’s present day-set bookends.
