Deadline reports that after an exhaustive search, actor-singer Jesse McCartney just landed the final role on Fox’s drama pilot Locke & Key. He will play Ty, the eldest of the Locke children. It is a key role in the project (pun intended) as it is considered the male lead on the show.
Locke & Key, from 20th TV, Kurtzman/Orci and DreamWorks TV, is based on Joe Hill’s comic. It tells the story of Nina Locke (Miranda Otto) and her three children, Tyler (McCartney), Kinsey (Sarah Bolger), and Bode (Skylar Gaertner) who, after the brutal murder of Nina’s husband Rendell Locke, return to Keyhouse, his old family home in Massachusetts. There, they are pestered by an evil entity that’s determined to hold the family hostage one way or another until it gets what it wants. As Ty, McCartney will be able to show off his music talents. According to the character description, Ty was the closest with his dad and carries a special guilt for his father’s death. He isolates himself a bit by retreating into his music. On TV, McCartney most recently recurred on Greek.

It’s unclear what role Gordon-Levitt will play in the film, though he has been rumored in connection with the threequel sincelast summer. However, Nolan struck down Internet rumors that the Riddler would appear in the film, as well as any notion that the Joker would make a return without the late Heath Ledger. The oft-rumored Hugo Strange is also a possibility, though details of the character’s involvement are pure speculation at this point.
Anne Hathaway has already been confirmed as Selina Kyle (a.k.a. Catwoman) and Gordon-Levitt’s Inception co-star Tom Hardy is playing the musclebound baddie Bane. A third villain isn’t out of the question, but would certainly complicate the plot as Nolan is building to a finale.
Another option would be Dick Grayson, a young circus performer orphaned by a mafia boss and taken in by Bruce Wayne (played by Christian Bale). In the comics, television series, and the 1995 movie Batman & Robin, Grayson ultimately becomes Robin, Batman’s crime-fighting sidekick. Gordon-Levitt certainly has the chops to play the “Boy Wonder,” but both Nolan and Bale have downplayed the possibility of introducing Robin into this gritty Gotham. (Nolan said Grayson was in a “crib somewhere” during The Dark Knight.) Does that rule out Nightwing?
Shooting starts this Spring and, according to Deadline, the 29-year-old actor will have completed his starring role in Rian Johnson’s Looper, a sci-fi time travel film with Bruce Willis that should hopefully be on everyone’s radar by now.
The Dark Knight Rises is scheduled for July 2012.

Christopher Nolan appeared at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival and confirmed the status of “The Dark Knight Rises”.
“We’ve worked on it a long time – David Goyer and myself. We’re about 12 weeks away from shooting. We start in May” Nolan told a packed crowd. He added that the main draw of doing this third film was about “finishing the story.”
The press release announcing Anne Hathaway’s involvement in the film the other week called her role Selina Kyle only, no mention of Catwoman. Nolan didn’t confirm whether we’ll see Catwoman in the film, however cinematographer Wally Pfister confirmed to Bleeding Coolthat Hathaway has done a full costume test.
“Yeah.. She’s phenomenal. This is something she wanted and wanted to show Chris, ‘I’m the one for this job’ and she did an incredible job…and she looked phenomenal in the wardrobe [hint, hint]. It’s going to be amazing with her.”
Pushed however to explain if that costume test was for Catwoman rather Kyle, he said “I’ll get fired and I won’t even get to shoot the picture! … I can’t really [say], but I definitely want to be around next year.”
