Y the last man

After years of languishing in development hell, a screen adaptation of Brian K. Vaughan’s Y: The Last Man graphic novel series may finally be under way.

THR is reporting that FX is developing an ongoing TV series with Vaughan, and Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson of the Color Force production company. The project is currently seeking a writer to work with Vaughan on series development.

The critically acclaimed and best-selling Vertigo series was written by Vaughan, with art by Pia Guerra.  New Line acquired the film rights to the series in 2007 (see “Writer & Director Named for ‘Y’”), but that version fell apart. Another attempt was made to jump-start the project in 2012 (see “‘Y: The Last Man’ Gets Director”), but Vaughan himself pulled the plug, since on movie wasn’t in production by the time rights reverted to him last September (see “‘Y: The Last Man’ Rights Reverting Soon (If No Movie)”).
