Amazon’s Good Omens Miniseries Will Star Michael Sheen and David Tennant
We already knew a Good Omens miniseries was heading to Amazon next year—but now we know who’ll be starring in the Neil Gaiman-Terry Pratchett adaptation, which will run for six one-hour episodes: Michael Sheen and David Tennant. Can you guess who’ll play which role?
According to Variety:
The show is set in 2018 on the brink of an apocalypse as humanity prepares for a final judgment. But Aziraphale, a somewhat fussy angel, and Crowley, a demon, aren’t enthusiastic about the end of the world, and can’t seem to find the Antichrist. Sheen will play the role of Aziraphale, while Tennant will play Crowley.
The show is based on Gaiman’s first novel, which he co-wrote with the late Terry Pratchett (Discworld); though the Good Omens miniseries has been in the works for awhile now, the success of Starz’ American Gods show means Gaiman adaptations are definitely having A Moment. For his part, Sheen—who’s had a distinguished career, but we’ll always love him for his knowing performance in the Twilight movies—tells Variety, “I first read ‘Good Omens’ as a teenager and it’s been one of my [favorite] stories ever since.” No statement from Tennant, but there’s been no shortage of news about the Doctor Who actor of late, considering his current stint as Scrooge McDuck on the new DuckTales, and today’s reveal that he’ll (somehow) be back for the second season of Jessica Jones.
