PLAY ARTS KAI CONJURES DOCTOR STRANGE FIGURE
Stephen Strange was once the world’s foremost neurosurgeons until he lost the use of his hands in terrible accident. In trying to reclaim their use, he traveled the world and ultimately became one of its most powerful mystics, earning him the moniker of Sorcerer Supreme.
With the Marvel hero receiving more attention with the release of “Doctor Strange,” Square Enix’s Play Arts Kai line is offering up its own take on the Master of the Mystic Arts with this new collectible figure.
Standing about 10.5 inches tall, Marvel Universe Variant Play Arts Kai Doctor Strange radiates with mystical might. Highly articulated, the figure spots his signature Cloak of Levitation, which can be inverted for numerous poses. Strange comes equipped with seven interchangeable hands, magic glyphs and effects made with translucent materials, and a display stand.
Available for preorder from Square Enix for $149.99, Marvel Universe Variant Play Arts Kai Doctor Strange is expected to ship in November, just about the time Benedict Cumberbatch reprises his role as the Sorcerer Supreme in director Taika Waititi’s “Thor: Ragnarok.” He’ll return once more in “Avengers: Infinity War,” which opens May 4, 2018.
The series, which ran from 2008-2013, follows three siblings who return to their family estate in Massachusetts after the gruesome death of their father.
Once there, they discover magical keys that grant special powers and open strange doors that change those who dare to walk through them. Unfortunately, they’re not the only ones interested in these mysterious artifacts, as a supernatural force is also after them and trying to force them to open the most terrible door of them all.
