DangerKatt’s Prophet Now Available as a Free Download
For Readers to Enjoy During a Trying Time
Hello, All!
Daniel Corey here, live from DangerKatt Central! I have an announcement to share with you: effectively immediately, I am making my first graphic novel, DangerKatt’s Prophet, available as a free download at my website.
Prophet was originally released under the DangerKatt label in 2009. It was written by me, with art by Anthony Diecidue. Prophet has a very special place in my heart: it was the first comic that Anthony and I had ever created. We would later go on to release Moriarty and Red City together with Image Comics.
Prophet is a fun, pulpy mix of the Spaghetti Western, horror and superhero genres; think Constantine meets Fistful of Dollars, or Deadwood meets Hellboy. In creating Prophet, I was hoping to blend everything that I love about Western films together with a modern pop-culture sensibility to give readers an entertaining and hopefully thought-provoking experience.
These are difficult times, what with the world in peril due to the COVID-19 outbreak. I was talking the other day to my literary manager, David Server of Archetype, who told me that although we are not doctors or first responders, artists play an important role in crises such as these: people look to the books and films that we create for comfort. He suggested that I make something available for free, so that is what I am doing.
If you are an artist, musician, dancer, actor, filmmaker — whatever your discipline — please consider sharing your craft online, from your home. That can take the form of sharing drawings or art process videos, living room couch concerts or dance numbers, or however you want to express your message of encouragement. Please feel free to tag me on Twitter at @dangerkatt or Instagram at @thedangerkatt, or hashtag #DangerCraft, and I will retweet or share in my Insta story about your work.
I hope everyone is keeping healthy and safe. Please stay at home, wash your hands frequently, and practice social distancing. Although we are separated at the moment, we will nevertheless get through this together.
God bless!
