David Hayter To Pen “The Sword”
David Hayter (“X2,” “Watchmen”) has been hired to pen the screenplay for the upcoming adaptation of The Luna Brothers comic “The Sword” for Lakeshore Entertainment and Hopscotch Features.
The four volume comic follows a young paraplegic who leads an ordinary existence until her family is brutally murdered by a mysterious trio with supernatural abilities.
Left for dead, Dara discovers an ancient sword belonging to her father. The sword restores her ability to walk and grants her a constantly evolving array of spectacular physical powers.
She soon embarks on a journey to hunt down and destroy her family’s assassins.
The property is being seen as a potential franchise launcher with the film slated to begin production in early 2014. Tom Rosenberg, Gary Lucchesi, Skip Williamson, and Andrew Mason will produce.
