David Lowery To Pen “Torso” Adaptation
“Aint Them Bodies Saints” writer/director David Lowery has been hired to pen and helm the long-gestating adaptation of Brian Michael Bendis and Marc Andreykos graphic novel “Torso”.
“Torso” tells the true but relatively unknown story of Treasury Department agent Eliot Ness time after his Al Capone days, when he moved to Cleveland to be the citys public safety officer.
Torsos began appearing in the river, and Ness began receiving notes taunting him to catch the killer. Ness, who had no experience in police work, put together a team of ex-officers to apprehend the serial murderer.
The project nearly got going a few years ago with David Fincher attached to direct and the likes of Matt Damon, Rachel McAdams and Casey Affleck starring.
Lowery will start from scratch, rather than using the previous script drafts by Ehren Kruger.
This marks the third project in the past month that Lowery has become attached to, following the “Petes Dragon” remake and the Robert Redford-led crime drama “The Old Man and the Gun”.
