DC Comics’ “Scalped” Comes To TV
WGN America has begun development of a series adaptation of “Scalped” from DC Entertainment’s Vertigo imprint.
Jason Aaron’s 60 issue-long series, which premiered in 2007, is described as a crime noir set on a Native American reservation in South Dakota. Doug Jung “Banshee” will pen the script and executive produce.
The series focused on the Oglala Lakota inhabitants who grapple with organized crime, poverty, drug and alcohol addiction and local politics while trying to preserve their cultural identity.
“Scalped” joins a quickly growing development slate at WGN America which debuts “Salem,” its first scripted drama, this coming Sunday. It’s also developing the Justin Lin-produced “Radiant Doors” series, the period drama series “Shadow Land,” the atomic bomb creation-themed “Manhattan” and a “Ten Commandments” mini-series.
