“EVE Online” To Become A TV Series
Coming off strong reviews from last night’s screening of “Everest” at the Venice Film Festival, the film’s director Baltasar Kormakur is teaming with legendary “Alien” director Ridley Scott for a new TV series adaptation of the hit MMORPG sci-fi video game “EVE Online”.
The project is set in a galaxy of 7,800 star systems more than 21,000 years in the future. Characters pilot customizable ships and can participate in a number of in-game activities like mining, piracy, manufacturing, trading, exploration, and combat. Released in 2003, within ten years it amassed over 500,000 subscribers.
Having scored the rights from publisher CCP Games, Kormakur’s RVK Studios and Scott Free will produce the adaptation and are now in talks with potential financiers with the aim of creating a series pilot.
