Jason Patric Eyes Starring Role in FX’s Comic Book-Based Pilot ‘Powers’

The pilot, an adaptation of the Brian Michael Bendis-Michael Avon Oeming comic book, centers on a cop who deals with crimes involving those endowed with special abilities.

Jason Patric is making his first dip into the world of TV and is in negotiations to star in Powers, FX’s adaptation of the Brian Michael Bendis-Michael Avon Oeming comic book.

Sony Pictures Television is behind the pilot, which is being produced by Circle of Confusion and directed by Michael Dinner.

Patric will play Christian Walker, a cop who works in the Powers division of the police force and deals with crimes involving those endowed with special abilities.

The first story in the Powers comic, which is serving as the basis for the pilot, involves the murder of Retro Girl, a superpowered celebrity. Walker, who gets paired up with a rookie on the case, is determined to track down the killer even if it costs him his badge.

Patric will join a cast that so far includes Lucy PunchCharles S. Dutton and Bailee Madison.

Patric has always skewed toward the offbeat in his movie career, starring in films ranging from The Lost Boys and Rush to In the Valley of Elah and comic book movie The Losers.
