‘Plutona’ Comic Book Series in the Works as Movie

Waypoint Entertainment has acquired movie rights to the coming-of-age comic series “Plutona,” written by Jeff Lemire and illustrated by Emi Lenox.

“Plutona” centers on a group of kids who find the body of a famous dead superhero in the woods. Waypoint Entertainment’s Ken Kao (“The Nice Guys”) will produce with partner Dan Kao and Addictive Pictures’ Russell Ackerman and John Schoenfelder under their first-look deal.

Image Comics released “Plutona,” a five-issue limited series, in September.

Lemire is the author of the Essex County Trilogy, “Sweet Tooth,” “The Nobody” and a run of “Animal Man.” Lenox is known for her diary comic “Emitown.”
