Sony confirms The Last of Us delay
The Last of Us has been delayed, SCEE has confirmed.
The game will now release worldwide on June 14, 2013, just over five weeks later than originally planned.
In a statement provided to VideoGamer.com, Naughty Dog said it prides itself on “setting a very high quality bar for every aspect of our games – gameplay, story, art, design, technology and more.
“We want to make sure The Last of Us raises that bar even further – for ourselves, and most importantly, our fans.
“Naughty Dog says that the delay will allow it to deliver a game that lives up to the team’s “internal high standards”.
“As we entered the final phase of development for The Last of Us, we came to realise just how massive Joel and Ellie’s journey is,” Naughty Dog continued. “But instead of cutting corners or compromising our vision, we came to the tough decision that the game deserved a few extra weeks to ensure every detail of The Last of Us was up to Naughty Dog’s internal high standards.”
The delay means that The Last of Us now won’t ship until the week of E3 – the same week many expect to see Sony’s PlayStation 4 line-up.
