“Star Wars” Skips Comic Con For D23 2017
The two new films of Disney and Lucasfilm’s “Star Wars” franchise, Rian Johnson’s “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” and Ron Howard’s “Han Solo” spin-off film, are reportedly sitting out this month’s San Diego Comic Con.
SDCC Unofficial Blog spoke with Lucasfilm’s publicity unit who said: “Our presence at SDCC 2017 will be focused on our booth on the convention floor, so there will be no press events or interview opportunities this year.”
The skipping out on the event comes as little surprise as Lucasfilm is saving all its information up for the D23 Expo in Anaheim a week before. With “Han Solo” in the midst of production issues and the film shoot running long due to the change of directors, it’s unclear if anything from the film will be shown.
‘Last Jedi’ on the other hand will certainly have a presence with a featurette very likely and a second trailer launch a very good possibility during the Disney Studios Live-Action Films Panel on Saturday July 15th from 10:30am-12:30am (if it happens, expect it to pop up online around that time).
San Diego Comic Con runs from July 20th-23rd in Southern California.
