Today Is San Diego Comic Con Vote Day – And Real Life Superhero Night!
Today San Diego City Council will be asked to vote on the future of the half-a-billion dollar proposed expansion of the San Diego Convention Center, an expansion that the continued presence of San Diego Comic Con depends upon.
This will include the plan’s environmental impact and port agreement, an increase on of special tax on local hotels of 3%, with 2% and 1% on hotels in the nearby vicinity, an annual contribution from the city of four-and-a-half million dollars for thirty years, and from the Port District of three million for twenty years and the people who made constructed Petco Park to undertake the expansion.
Agreement may depend upon a deal to employ local workers for construction, and there are legal and coastal hurdles to tackle yet, including the controversial hotel tax.
Meanwhile in San Diego, a series of violent crimes in the City Heights district have brought out the Real Life Superheroes, a gang calling themselves in a trademark baiting move, the Xtreme Justice League are planning to start patrolling the area. Tonight at 7pm, they will assemble at the corner of Fairmount Avenue and University Avenue and are asking others to get involved. Spandex not necessary. But it would be nice…
