Fox and Warner Bros. TV have completed a deal for a pilot to be produced based on “Lucifer,” the Vertigo comic character co-created by Neil Gaiman.

In the show, the fallen angel Lucifer is bored and unhappy as the Lord of Hell. He resigns his throne and abandons his kingdom for the gorgeous, shimmering insanity of Los Angeles, where he gets his kicks helping the LAPD punish criminals.

The series has reportedly become more of a police procedural since the property was picked up by Fox back in September.

“Underworld” director and “Sleepy Hollow” co-creator/executive producer Len Wiseman will direct the pilot and executive produce the series alongside Jerry Bruckheimer, Jonathan Littman and “Californication” creator Tom Kapinos. Kapinos is serving as show runner on the series.
