Welcome to our countdown to the most anxiety-inducing horror films for parents!  Today is day twenty three!

Each day, we are covering the films I both love and hate because they’re awesome and they give me panic attacks now that I’m a mom.

Film #9 considers the question; What if your own child turned against you no matter how much you loved them, how much compassion you showed to them, no matter how much empathy you tried to teach?  What if your baby really isn’t your baby, possibly not even human?

Disclaimer: Trigger warnings are a given when you talk about horror, but I’m going to say it anyway.  Many subjects covered by horror films are disturbing to parents in ways we can’t possibly understand and each is unique to the parent and his/her experiences. Tread carefully and know your limits.  If this begins to be too much, there’s no shame in closing the window.  Also, this post contains some spoilers throughout.

So, today I thought we would take a drive through another, similar story to yesterday’s escape from Silent Hill.  Another dynamic horror duo came along, long before Alyssa and Sharon with a story that preys upon our anxiety when it comes to children, manipulation, religious insanity and death.  Your death, not theirs… sorry for any confusion, there.

DC may have entered the Rebirth era, but the effects of the 5-year-long New 52 initiative are still being felt — and in the case of this new statue, that sentiment can be taken literally. Sideshow Collectibles has partnership with Prime 1 Studio to create a New 52 style statue of the Man of Steel himself, Superman.

The Polystone statue will have a limited run of only 500 and will go for the super price of $749.99. But Sideshow also offers monthly installment plans that get down into the $80 range, as well. The statue is limited to one per person and is expected to arrive between August and October 2017. Continue reading

Carrying on the same vein as our film from yesterday, it seems like a good day to dive into a title that crosses the barriers between dimensions.  It shows us a world between worlds and walks the bridge that binds film and gaming. Today we take a drive into my favorite of all haunted towns…

The first trailer for the highly anticipated film Logan.1qnxkvy

logan-trailer-dog-tags-front

This trailer is a far cry from the first 2 films in the franchise in that it depicts and more broken down, despondent version of Logan.  I, for one, really can appreciate the darker version of the character.

Loosely based on the Mark Millar story line of “Old Man Logan”, this film promises to pull out all the stops in a very adult version of the character.

Wednesday.  October 19th.  The day I saw one of the many horror films I swore I wouldn’t watch after having children.  Clearly, there is something wrong with me, or I’m just really obsessed with James Wan right now. (probably both)

Happy Monday, all!  Hope the weekend treated you well and you are of to a great week.  All is well here as I continue to dive into the darkest corners of parenting horrors for my own catharsis and your enjoyment. Today’s film of choice is an oldie but a goodie and continues along the path of demonic ritual and a clueless mother who once again is only doing her best to keep herself, and her baby alive… but should she?

Happy October 16th!  Today, because I’m a glutton, I’m continuing along Ed & Lorraine’s case list to a beautiful little home in Connecticut…
