Along with “Y: The Last Man,” another of Brian K. Vaughan’s celebrated comic works is “Ex Machina” and now Legendary Entertainment has secured the film rights to the property with plans to adapt it into a movie titled “The Great Machine”.
The comic follows the political career of Mitchell Hundred, who became the Mayor of New York City after 9/11. Additionally, the series features flashbacks to Hundred’s time as The Great Machine, a heroic alter-ego who has the ability to speak with mechanical devices and command them to do his bidding.
The story ran across fifty issues and two specials and wrapped up in 2010. The title change is likely to avoid confusion with Alex Garland’s “Ex Machina”. Anna Waterhouse and Joe Shrapnel have come onboard to pen the script, while Vaughan will produce.
