Friday the 13th: The Game – Official Announcement Trailer

Following the first reboot in 2009 and word of a second one currently in development, fans of the “Friday the 13th” franchise are patiently waiting for another go around with Jason Voorhees however they can get it.

Today comes word that Gun Media has launched a Kickstarter campaignfor a “Friday the 13th” video game that would see Kane Hodder reprising the role after playing it in four of the sequels.

Makeup effects artist Tom Savini and the franchise’s co-creator Sean S. Cunningham are also involved in the project. Set in the semi-open world of Camp Crystal Lake, it is described as a third-person, asymmetrical 1v7 multiplayer title where one player controls Jason Voorhees while the remaining seven control camp counselors trying to survive the night.

Fans can play as either Jason Voorhees or the seven camp counselors, and can ever create their own movie trailer based on the games they play. The character Tommy Jarvis (played by Corey Feldman in the films) will also return as an in-game guide for the player.

The Kickstarer campaign launched today, and will end on Friday November 13th. The goal is $700,000 and in less than one day so far it has already achieved $146,000 as of the time of this writing. All the rewards have an October 2016 date which means the game is likely targeting that day of release.
