The Dark Knight Rises Launches Web Game, Releases Dent Doc « Spinoff Online – TV, Film, and Entertainment News Daily

You’d think, with the amount of viral marketing and other Internet-based experiences, that The Dark Knight Rises was a smaller film requiring a lot of extra push to get audiences excited instead of the highly anticipated sequel to two of the highest-grossing films of all time. Be that as it may, Warner Bros., Christopher Nolan and the rest of the Bat-gang continue to give fans fun experiences.

First off, the web-based game The Fire Rises launched Tuesday. Here’s the official description:

The Fire Rises casts players as henchmen, out to get their own piece of Gotham’s pie. With lackeys of their own, players secure territory, spawn various crew members to take out a relentless stream of deadly security officers, and loot valuable gear from nearby buildings, all before Gotham PD shows up in full force and puts an end to your crime spree.

To pull off big heists, you will have to mix-and-match your squads, spawn them from sewer covers quickly and efficiently, and arrange them around the battlefield in just the right way to buy your looters valuable time. Steal enough goods and you will unlock more crew members, including Catwoman herself.

As if playing criminal in a Bane-tormented Gotham City wasn’t enough, excited viewers can also check out a document from the movie universe called The Dent Act. You can read the entire thing yourself, but the gist is that the public was told that Harvey Dent died at the hands of the Batman which resulted in stricter laws against organized crime perpetrators, giving Jim Gordon more power to take them down. This must have been what Gordon meant at the end of Dark Knight when he said, “He’s the hero Gotham deserves, but not the one it needs right now. So, we’ll hunt him, because he can take it. Because he’s not our hero. He’s a silent guardian. A watchful protector. A Dark Knight.”

Opening July 20, The Dark Knight Rises stars Christian Bale as Batman, Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle, Tom Hardy as Bane, Marion Cotillard as Miranda Tale, Joseph Gordon-Levitt as John Blake, Michael Caine as Alfred, Gary Oldman as Commissioner Gordon and Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox.
